Life in the Senior School
Every school day is designed to balance academic focus with physical wellbeing, language enrichment, and real-world skills. We provide a supportive structure where students can settle in quickly and thrive.
Our Senior School Aims
In the Senior School, we focus on three core educational aims to guide our students' growth:
A Supportive Study Environment
Developing strong, independent study habits is an essential part of the Senior School journey. To support this, we provide dedicated spaces and guidance.
Homework Club
Running most afternoons after school, our Homework Club is available as a flexible, drop-in session. It is monitored by teachers who focus on helping students improve their study methods and organisation, ensuring they build the skills to manage their workloads independently.
Language and Cultural Immersion
With over 70 nationalities on campus, language learning is integrated into our daily routine. We celebrate multilingualism and offer tailored pathways for every student
Core Modern Languages
English, Dutch, French, and Spanish are taught within the core curriculum. This includes native-level Dutch lessons to support bilingual families and long-term local integration.
External Examination Support
Students are encouraged to take external GCSE and A Level examinations in their native or heritage languages.
Native Language Clubs
We host native language lessons as popular after-school activities, ensuring students maintain strong ties to their home cultures.
Residential Trips & Adventures
Learning at the BSA extends far beyond the campus walls. Our annual residential trips are key highlights of the school year, designed to build resilience, teamwork, and cultural awareness
The Winter Ski Trip
An annual ski or snowboarding week on the slopes of France or Italy, building physical coordination and camaraderie.
Language Immersion Weeks
Home-stay visits in France and Spain, where students live with local host families to rapidly accelerate their language skills and cultural understanding.
English & Drama in London
A culturally rich trip to London's theatrical heart, designed to build creative expression and confidence.
Computer Science in Germany
A forward-looking technical trip exploring modern innovation and engineering in Germany.
