A Balanced, Joyful School Day
For children aged 6 to 11, the school day is carefully structured to balance focused academic learning with active play, creative expression, and vital downtime. We ensure our students feel secure, energised, and ready to learn from the moment they arrive.
Junior School Timings
Our daily routine is structured around six 50-minute teaching periods, with two dedicated playground breaks, an hour for lunch, and a shared story time at the end of each afternoon to promote a love for reading:
Year | Time |
| Years 2 and 3 | 8.45am to 3.25pm |
| Years 4 to 6 | 8.45am to 3.30pm |
| After-School Activities | Running daily until 4.45pm |
Wellbeing & Social Development
At the BSA, student wellbeing is not an addition to our curriculum; it is the absolute foundation of academic success. Our long-serving, dedicated staff wrap students in a supportive environment where every child feels heard, safe, and valued.
PSHE
Personal, Social, and Health Education (PSHE) is woven into the fabric of daily school life. We use a renowned, age-appropriate wellbeing curriculum called Jigsaw, taught through regular assemblies and classroom lessons. This comprehensive, school-wide framework helps children develop vital social and emotional skills, positive behaviour, self-confidence, and mental health resilience.
