The British School of Amsterdam was created in 1977 when three families, posted for two years to the Netherlands, decided to teach their children from one of their homes.
The founding idea was simple: to ensure their children did not fall behind the British school system whilst living overseas.
Over time, the school slowly grew to include a Kindergarten, then a Primary School, and by the turn of the millennium, a full Senior School was established. From this point onward, the school has proudly catered for children from ages 3 to 18.
Before 2021, the school was located across various sites in Amsterdam, without a single building large enough to house our entire student and staff body. Today, we teach over 1,000 students, bringing our vibrant, global family together in one world-class building on the Havenstraat.
