Founded by Families, for Families

Welcome to the BSA parent community. Discover how we work hand-in-hand with our families from over 70 nationalities to create a warm, supportive second home in Amsterdam.

In 1977, three British families posted to the Netherlands came together to teach their children. Nearly fifty years later, that parent-founded spirit remains the heartbeat of The British School of Amsterdam. We believe that true belonging extends to the whole family. Whether you are new to the Netherlands or long established in Amsterdam, our school is a place where parents feel seen, valued, and connected from day one.

The Parents' Organisation (PO)

A Welcoming Community from Day One

Relocating to a new city brings excitement as well as practical challenges. Our active Parents' Organisation (PO) provides a reassuring 'soft landing' in Amsterdam, connecting new arrivals with experienced families who understand the relocation journey firsthand.

Run by volunteer parents, the PO coordinates welcoming activities, social get-togethers, and landmark school celebrations—including our much-loved International and Cultural Days. Through class representatives and interest groups, the PO ensures that every parent has an immediate network of friends, helpful local advice, and opportunities to contribute to school life.

Communication & Support

Open Channels, Collaborative Support

Strong, open communication between home and school is essential for your child's happiness and success. Whether you have a quick question about daily routines, need to report an absence, or wish to discuss your child's learning with their Class or Form Tutor, our team is always accessible.

  • Reporting an Absence: Please notify your respective school office before 8:30am via the Parent Portal or by phone.
  • Connecting with Staff: Class teachers and Form Tutors are your primary points of daily contact. For broader queries, our section offices are available throughout the school day.
  • Joining the PO Committee: New volunteers are always welcome. Email our committee leads to find out how you can get involved.
