We're On the Move! The countdown has begun. We move to our new building on the Havenstraat in Amsterdam Zuid in...
As part of our 40th anniversary celebrations, it is with absolute pride and pleasure that we have had the opportunity to write a book about the history of the school that we are calling The First 40 Years. Without a doubt, a truly inspirational story of how we started out in someone's living room with a group of parents living in Amsterdam in 1977, who were unable to find an English speaking education for their children, and how we have developed into the school we are today, something we are all very proud of.
The time and effort that has gone into researching for The First 40 Years has been considerable. The book has been written by Deborah Nicholls-Lee and Robin Pascoe, both journalists at DutchNews.nl. They have interviewed and met with almost 50 different people who have all contributed to making the school what it is today. They ranged from former pupils and both past and present board members, staff and parents. A book such as this would not be complete without photographs, and we ploughed through thousands of old archived photos that would help capture the life at the BSA and bring the story alive.
